Residents of Noida are set to receive exciting news after the Lok Sabha elections with significant expansions to their metro network. Noida currently has two metro lines, one connecting to Delhi and another linking Noida with Greater Noida.

New developments include plans to extend the metro from Sector-51 to Greater Noida West and from Sector-142 to the Botanical Garden.

Metro Expansion Plans:

  • Sector-51 to Greater Noida West: This route had previously received approval from the Uttar Pradesh cabinet in 2019, but awaited clearance from the central government. Recently, a revised route has been prepared in collaboration with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and has been approved by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) board two months ago. It is now pending further approvals from the central government.

  • Sector-142 to Sector-38A Botanical Garden: This route’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) was approved last year and has been sent to the Uttar Pradesh government for final approvals.

Current Connectivity:

  • The existing Aqua Line runs from Noida Sector-51 to the Greater Noida depot, covering 21 stations. The new extensions will significantly enhance connectivity across Noida, linking it more effectively with Delhi and Greater Noida.

Future Developments:

Following the election code of conduct, which is currently in place due to the Lok Sabha elections, the approval process for these projects is expected to progress after June 4th. NMRC officials are coordinating with the Uttar Pradesh government to expedite the approval process.
