Delhi’s long-awaited dream of cruising on the Yamuna River is finally coming true. Starting December 2025, the capital will witness its first-ever river cruise service between Sonia Vihar Pushta and Jagatpur, offering a brand-new tourism experience for residents and visitors alike.
Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra confirmed that preparations are in their final phase. The cruise will operate on an 8-kilometre stretch, offering scenic views of the Yamuna’s revived riverbanks and newly developed eco-tourism zones.

☔ Seasonal Schedule
Cruise operations will pause during the monsoon season to ensure safety, as high water levels and flow speeds could pose risks. Post-monsoon, services will resume as part of Delhi’s broader “Clean and Revive Yamuna” initiative, combining river tourism with environmental awareness.
🌆 Why It Matters
The project is expected to:
-
Boost eco-tourism and employment in Delhi
-
Encourage citizens’ connection with the Yamuna
-
Pave the way for future waterfront recreation hubs
-
Complement government efforts to make Delhi’s waterways navigable again
Officials said this marks a “symbolic revival of Delhi’s relationship with its river,” adding that future routes may extend further downstream depending on response and environmental clearance.
