Justice Arora Suspends Sentence for Woman to Purge Contempt

The Delhi High Court has granted a two-week suspension of sentence for a woman found guilty of contempt. Justice Arora made the decision and added that the imprisonment punishment will be recalled if the woman tenders an unconditional apology and complies with the conditions of the settlement agreement.

Conditions for Suspension of Sentence

The Court has outlined the following conditions for the suspension of the woman’s sentence:

  • If the woman complies with the conditions of the settlement agreement

Failure to meet these conditions will result in the woman having to surrender before the Registrar General of the Court on August 24 at 2.30 PM.

Steps to Enforce Prison Sentence

In the event that the woman does not meet the conditions for suspension, the Registrar General has been directed to take all necessary steps to send her to Central Jail, Tihar at New Delhi to serve her prison sentence.

Security Bond and Surety Requirement

The Court has also ordered the woman to appear before the Registrar General on August 11, 2023, in order to furnish a security bond of ₹ 50,000/★and a surety of the same amount for her surrender.
