Maruti Suzuki India’s parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation, has recently patented the design of the eWX electric hatchback in India. The company claims that the car will have a range of up to 230km on a full charge.

Possible Electric Version of Popular Hatchback

The eWX electric car may be the electric version of the company’s popular hatchback, the WagonR. The concept model has already been showcased at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2024 and Japan Mobility Show 2023. It is expected to compete with Tata Tiago EV, Citroen eC3, and MG Comet EV in the Indian market.

Entry into Indian Electric Car Market

Maruti Suzuki’s EVX electric SUV is set to enter the Indian electric car market in early 2025. Meanwhile, the company’s affordable compact EV, the eWX, could be launched before 2026 with an initial price tag of around 10 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

Design and Features of eWX Electric Car

The eWX electric car’s design, for which the patent has been filed, resembles the concept version. It is presented as an EV mini-wagon with a boxy body shape and curved rectangular lighting elements on the front and rear. The car also features alloy wheels and green highlights, giving it an SUV look.

Range and Interior Features

While details about the battery pack and motor of the eWX electric car are not yet disclosed, it is confirmed that the car will have a range of up to 230 kilometers on a full charge.

The cabin boasts a dual-tone black and green dashboard with an integrated screen setup. The interior layout complements the exterior design, with a rotary dial for the drive mode shifter between the front seats.
