On Thursday morning around 7:30 am, her grandmother, Sheela Devi, was taking her to school in New Osmanpur. As they passed by the dog sterilization center, a pitbull dog emerged and attacked the girl. The dog, which belonged to a foreign breed, had escaped from the dog sterilization center in Shastratti Park.
Rescued by a Good Samaritan
Sheela Devi, the girl’s grandmother, recounted the incident stating that she was accompanying her granddaughter to school when the attack occurred. As they approached the sterilization center located in Osmanpur DDA flat, the pitbull dog attacked the girl. Fortunately, Akhtar Mirza, a disabled teacher passing by, noticed the commotion and intervened. He struck the dog with his scooter, causing it to release the girl.
Legal Action and Investigation
DCP Dr. Joy Tirkey stated that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has been conducting a campaign to sterilize abandoned dogs near residential areas. However, during this process, a dog managed to bite the legs of the nine-year-old girl while she was accompanied by her grandmother. The girl is currently receiving medical treatment, and legal action is being taken in response to the incident.
