New Delhi Welcomes G-20 Summit Under PM Modi’s Leadership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the G-20 Summit in New Delhi with a speech highlighting India’s rich history and commitment to global welfare. He referred to a 2,500-year-old pillar nearby inscribed with the message, “The welfare and happiness of humanity should be ensured,” written in Sanskrit. Modi urged the world leaders to remember this message and work together to address the challenges of the 21st century.

PM Modi also expressed condolences to the people affected by the earthquake in Morocco and offered India’s assistance. Additionally, he announced the unanimous decision to include the African Union into the G-20, marking a significant diplomatic victory for India on the global stage.

African Union Joins G-20 as Permanent Member

Prime Minister Modi announced the official inclusion of the African Union as a permanent member of the G-20. This decision was met with applause from all the leaders present. The African Union consists of 55 member countries, and this move is seen as a step towards fostering stronger ties between India and Africa.

Working Together for Global Trust and Confidence

PM Modi emphasized the need to rebuild trust in the post-Covid world. He stated that just as the world successfully fought against the pandemic, it can also overcome the crisis of mutual distrust. Modi called for a united effort to transform the global trust deficit into one of trust and confidence. He encouraged leaders to work together with the mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas” (Together for everyone’s support, development, and efforts).

Focusing on Inclusive Growth and Climate Change

The G-20 Summit under India’s chairmanship will focus on various key issues, including inclusive growth, digital innovation, climate financing, and equitable global health access. The theme of the summit, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, One Earth-One Family-One Future,” reflects the commitment of all countries to work together for the betterment of the world.

Prime Minister Modi expressed hope that the G-20 Summit will drive global development, gender equality, women’s empowerment, and global peace.
