New Delhi: DDA Plans to Demolish Unsafe Signature View Apartment in Mukherjee Nagar
DDA (Delhi Development Authority) has announced its plan to demolish the Signature View Apartment located in Mukherjee Nagar. This decision comes after the apartment was declared unsafe by IIT Delhi, following a thorough examination. The apartment comprises 338 flats across 12 towers, and it will be the first time in the history of the capital that such a large number of flats will be demolished simultaneously. The move aims to ensure the safety of residents, similar to the Twin Towers of Noida that were demolished earlier.
The DDA has held discussions with the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) regarding the demolition. The flat owners will be required to provide a no objection letter to DDA before the demolition process can begin. Once this is obtained, DDA will enter into a contract with an agency for the demolition. The demolition is expected to affect over a thousand residents.
The IIT Delhi report confirmed the unsafe nature of the apartment, leading to the decision for its demolition. In light of this, the DDA has presented two options to the flat owners:
Options for Flat Owners:
- Flat owners will be offered a price equivalent to the current market value of their flats by DDA.
- Alternatively, flat owners can choose apartment reconstruction. In this case, DDA will oversee the reconstruction process and also provide rent assistance until the new flats are ready.
The DDA aims to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents while providing them with suitable alternatives. The demolition process is expected to begin once the necessary approvals and agreements have been obtained.
News Summary:
- DDA plans to demolish the Signature View Apartment located in Mukherjee Nagar following its declaration as unsafe by IIT Delhi.
- The apartment consists of 338 flats in 12 towers, and this will be the first simultaneous demolition of such a large number of flats in the capital.
- Flat owners will have the option to receive the current market price of their flats or choose apartment reconstruction with rent assistance provided by DDA.
