The Parliament Security Service (Operations) officers will now wear army camouflage fatigues instead of the blue safari suit. The staff involved in legislative work has been allotted cream jackets, cream shirts with a pink lotus printed on them, and khaki trousers. The new uniforms were handed over to all 271 staff members, including chamber attendants and those deployed for verbatim reporting service. The designs for the uniforms have been created by the National Institute of Fashion Technology and will be gender-neutral.
In other news, members of the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha gathered at the inner courtyard of the old Parliament House for a group photograph. The joint photograph of members of both houses was taken, followed by separate group photographs of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members. Prominent leaders, including the Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda, were seated in the first row. Other leaders and senior members were also seated in the front row.
After the function in the Central Hall of the old building, proceedings will shift to the new Parliament building. The Lok Sabha will meet at the new building at 1.15 pm, while Rajya Sabha proceedings in its new chamber will commence at 2.15 pm.
