Former MP Sajjan Kumar Charged with Inciting Mob during 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots
New Delhi. During the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, former MP Sajjan Kumar has been charged with inciting the mob of rioters. The court of Special Judge MK Nagpal at Rouse Avenue said that the evidence placed on record by the prosecution is sufficient. The gentleman can be prosecuted.

Evidence of Incitement and Violence
The court directed the prosecution to record the statements of the witnesses, saying that the evidence shows that on November 1, 1984, Sajjan was inciting the mob near Gulab Bagh Gurdwara in Nawada. Allegedly after Sajjan’s speech, the mob set the Gurdwara on fire. The goods of the Gurudwara were looted, and the houses of Sikh families were set on fire.
Seeking Justice for the Victims
The court said that in order to avenge the murder of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, evidence has been presented on record regarding damage to property, looting, and killing of Sikhs in this area. The court also noted that some other accused have not been identified.
Acquittal from Murder Charges
While Sajjan Kumar has been charged with incitement and violence, the court has acquitted him of murder charges in another case related to the riots on November 2, 1984. The court stated that no evidence was found of Sajjan’s involvement in the conspiracy to murder Sohan Singh and Avtar Singh.
