Royal Enfield Plans to Launch Electric Bike in India

Royal Enfield, the popular bike making brand, is set to make its mark in the electric bike market. While the company’s petrol-powered bikes have been a hit in India, it has now decided to tap into the growing demand for electric bikes.

The decision to launch an electric bike comes at a time when competition in the market is fierce. Though the bike is still in its early stages, rumors about its launch date have already started circulating.

Managing Director Siddharth Lal recently shed light on the electric bike, revealing that prototype testing is currently underway. It is expected to take around 2 years before the bike hits the Indian roads. Speculations are rife about the bike’s range, which could be a standout feature.

The company has also set ambitious production targets for the electric bike. It plans to produce 1.5 lakh units between 2023 and 2024. This move comes as Royal Enfield currently holds a dominant 90% market share in the midsize motorcycle segment, outpacing competitors like Harley Davidson X and Triumph Speed 400.

As for the price of the upcoming electric bike, no information has been disclosed yet. It is too early to make any guesses, especially since Royal Enfield recently increased the prices of its standard variant, with the ex-showroom price of the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 now at Rs 1,47,999. The Kickstart variant is priced at Rs 1,54,674, and the electric start variant is priced at Rs 1,63,338.

With its decision to enter the electric bike market, Royal Enfield aims to capitalize on the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation options in India. It remains to be seen how the brand’s loyal fanbase responds to this new offering.
