RBI UDGAM Portal Launch:
Thousands of crores of rupees are deposited in the banks of our country which have no claimant. In order to enable the common man to trace unclaimed deposits, the Reserve Bank of India, the regulator of the banking sector, has launched a centralized web portal named Udgam (UDGAM), by visiting which any person can trace unclaimed deposits in banks. On April 6, 2023, RBI announced the development of a centralized web portal to track unclaimed deposits.
Help to trace and claim unclaimed amount
Reserve Bank of India has introduced centralized web portal Udyam. The objective of this initiative is to help people to find out about the unclaimed amount and claim it. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das launched the portal ‘Udgam’. It has been designed by the central bank to make it easier for people to find their unclaimed deposits in multiple banks at one place and claim them.
Presently information about unclaimed deposits is available in seven banks
At present information about unclaimed deposits is available in seven banks State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Central Bank of India, Dhanlaxmi Bank, South Indian Bank, DBS Bank India and Citibank on the portal. Through this web portal, common people will be helped to find out the unclaimed deposits deposited in banks by themselves or their near and dear ones, even if the amount is deposited in more than one bank.
