During his virtual address to the BJP’s Kshetriya Panchayati Raj Parishad in West Bengal, the Prime Minister said: “We defeated the opposition’s no-confidence motion in Parliament and gave a befitting reply to those spreading negativity in the entire nation.
The members of the opposition left Parliament mid-way. The truth is that they were scared of voting on the no-confidence motion.”
The no-confidence motion against the Modi government was defeated in the Lok Sabha on Thursday after opposition MPs staged a walkout.
Opposition betrayed Manipur:
PM
“The opposition parties didn’t want voting as it would have exposed the cracks in their alliance. They ran away from the House. The whole country has seen the Opposition running away from the House. It is unfortunate that these people betrayed the people of Manipur,” he said.
The PM added that the opposition parties had no intention of discussing Manipur, “they were not serious about any discussion, they just wanted to do politics over it”.
He stated that home minister Amit Shah was willing to hold a detailed debate on Manipur, “but the opposition didn’t allow it to happen”.
“The opposition knew that the truth of Manipur was going to sting them the most. They don’t care about the pain and suffering of people, all they care about is politics. This was the reason they chose to avoid the discussion and rather gave priority to political debates by moving the No-Confidence Motion,” PM Modi added.
‘TMC using terror to intimidate’
PM Modi also attacked the ruling TMC for using “terror and threats” to intimidate the opposition in the state during the rural poll last month.
“In Bengal, violence has been used as a means to threaten the opposition. But despite this, love of the people of Bengal has led to the people’s victory. But when our candidates have won, they are not allowed to take out a procession. If some take out a procession, they are attacked. This is TMC’s politics,” he alleged.
