December Launch Expected for Key Railway Track
Reports indicate that the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway track is set to become operational this December. Following this, Vande Bharat sleeper train service between Kanyakumari and Srinagar could commence.
The sleeper coaches for these trains are currently being manufactured at the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) factory in Bengaluru. Officials state that work on 10 rakes is expected to be completed by December, with all coaches being air-conditioned, similar to those in Rajdhani Express trains. This will ensure a comfortable journey for passengers.
Heavy Rainfall Disrupts Train Services
Recent heavy to moderate rainfall in various parts of the country has impacted train operations. In Maharashtra’s Thane district, local train services between Kasara and Titwala stations were disrupted on Sunday morning due to heavy rains and fallen trees.
Around 6:30 AM, heavy rain caused mud to spill over onto the tracks between Atgaon and Tanashit stations. Additionally, a fallen tree near Vasind station blocked the tracks, causing rail traffic on the Kalyan-Kasara route to come to a halt.
A spokesperson for Central Railway confirmed that train services between Kasara and Titwala have been temporarily suspended.
