Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch a new entry-level MPV to compete with the Renault Triber. Codenamed “YDB,” this MPV is expected to be priced starting from Rs. 6 Lakhs, making it more affordable than the Ertiga. The vehicle is based on the Suzuki Spacia but will have a longer dimension, likely under 4 meters.

No Sliding Doors Initially, But Potential for Future Iterations

Unlike the Spacia, the YDB MPV will not have sliding doors in the second row initially to keep costs low. However, there is potential for Maruti to incorporate the cost-effective sliding door mechanism from the Eeco in future iterations of the YDB MPV.

The vehicle will have a tall stance, offering more headroom and interior space, with an interior design similar to current Maruti models.

Expected Engine Performance and Key Features

The YDB MPV is expected to be powered by a 1.2 L 3-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 80.46 BHP and 111.7 NM of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual and automatic gearbox. Fuel efficiency is expected to be around 23-25 KMPL, with a CNG variant also available.

Key features might include a 9-inch infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, second-row AC, LED headlamps, tail-lamps, DRLs, a 360-degree surround view camera, and six airbags.

Launch Date and Pricing

The YDB MPV is still in the early stages of development and is expected to launch sometime in 2026 with a starting price of Rs. 6 Lakhs.

Before its release, Maruti will be launching a 7-seater SUV and its first-ever electric SUV. The YDB MPV will be positioned below the Ertiga and XL6 in Maruti’s lineup. Stay tuned for more updates on this upcoming MPV!
