Tata Motors is making a groundbreaking move in the Indian automobile industry by launching the Tata Nexon CNG, the country’s first-ever turbocharged petrol CNG SUV.

Building upon the success of the popular Nexon model, which has sold over 600,000 units since its introduction in 2017, Tata is expanding its powertrain options with this innovative CNG technology.

Key Highlights of the Tata Nexon CNG:

  • Industry First: The Nexon CNG will be the first turbocharged petrol CNG car in India, showcasing Tata’s commitment to innovation.
  • Twin-Cylinder Technology: The SUV will incorporate Tata’s twin-cylinder CNG technology, previously seen in the Altroz and Punch models, ensuring ample boot space of 230 liters.

  • Enhanced Safety: Tata has implemented numerous safety features, including thermal incident protection, leak detection, and a micro switch.

  • Performance: The Nexon CNG will be powered by the familiar 1.2L three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, albeit with adjusted performance outputs for CNG.
  • Transmission Options: The CNG model will come with a five-speed manual transmission, with the possibility of an AMT option as well.

Expected Launch and Additional Features:

The Tata Nexon CNG is expected to hit the Indian market in the coming months. To compete with rivals like the Mahindra XUV300, Tata is also considering adding a panoramic sunroof to the Nexon lineup.

With the launch of the Nexon CNG, Tata Motors aims to offer customers a cleaner and more efficient fuel option without compromising on performance or practicality. This innovative model is set to redefine the CNG segment in India and attract a wider range of buyers who are looking for a greener and more economical SUV option.
