Hyundai Exter Micro SUV to be launched soon
South Korean carmaker Hyundai is all set to launch its new micro SUV in India, the Hyundai Exter. The company will announce the prices of the car on July 10. The pre-booking for the car is already open with a token amount of Rs 11,000. This will be the company’s cheapest SUV in India and is expected to compete with Tata Punch, Citroen C3, and Nissan Magnite.
Engine and Features of the Hyundai Exter
The Hyundai Exter will come equipped with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 82 bhp and peak torque of 113 Nm. The engine is borrowed from the Grand i10 Nios. The car will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT option. There is also a possibility of a CNG variant of the car. The micro-SUV will come with several segment-first features like an electric sunroof, a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, dual-camera dashcam, six airbags (standard), ESC, vehicle stability management, hill assist control and more.
Price and Competition
The Hyundai Exter will be the company’s most affordable SUV in India and is expected to be priced around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). The car will compete with the Tata Punch, which has sold around two lakh units since its launch almost two years ago. The car is expected to be a tough competitor in the micro-SUV segment.
