A day after Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya criticized Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav over the construction of a new AIIMS in Darbhanga, Yadav has responded with allegations of “invisible development”.
Mandaviya had launched an attack on Yadav, stating that the Modi government does not do politics in development but does politics of development. Yadav, however, questioned the validity of the government’s claims, asking how the Ministry of Health could have opened AIIMS in Darbhanga when the site has not been finalized.
Tejashwi Yadav, who holds the health portfolio in the Bihar government, accused PM Modi of taking false credit and lying to the people. He also claimed that the Union Health Minister has not responded to their requests regarding the construction of AIIMS.
In response, Mansukh Mandaviya stated that the permission for AIIMS Darbhanga was given by the Modi government in 2020 and accused Yadav of changing the site for political reasons. He also posted a letter from the union government, highlighting concerns about the alternate site proposed by the Bihar government.
Tejashwi Yadav pointed out that during the time period mentioned by Mandaviya, the state health minister was from the BJP itself, suggesting that Mandaviya was highlighting his own party’s failure. Yadav also emphasized that the Bihar government has transferred land free of cost to the center at a better location.
The construction of the AIIMS in Darbhanga is part of the Bihar government’s plan to establish a 2,500-bed super-speciality hospital. The project is estimated to cost Rs 3,115 crore and aims to provide advanced medical facilities to the people of Darbhanga and surrounding districts.
Despite the ongoing dispute, the Bihar government is committed to completing the construction and ensuring that the people of Darbhanga benefit from the new AIIMS.
