New Delhi Supreme Court Calls for Detailed Hearing on Stray Dog Attacks
New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Thursday said that there is a need for a detailed hearing in cases related to stopping stray dog attacks across the country. The court said that it wants to issue concrete guidelines after hearing the case on merits.
Justice J.K. Maheshwari and K.V. Vishwanathan’s bench made this comment while considering several cases related to stray dog attacks. The bench adjourned the hearing of the case till October 18.
Concrete Guidelines to be Issued
The bench said, ‘Our intention in this matter is very clear, at present we will not pass any interim order. We will issue guidelines after discussing in detail all the aspects of statutory, rules, implementation, problem and its solution in the matter. So that the litigation related to this can be reduced in the High Courts.
The top court is hearing several petitions including that of Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR). In the petition, KSCPCR has sought an order from the Supreme Court to reduce the increase in stray dog attacks in Kerala, especially on children.
