Aligarh – Residents of Aligarh are set to benefit from a new fleet of air-conditioned (AC) buses connecting the city with the national capital Delhi and the state capital Lucknow, along with Jaipur and Moradabad. The introduction of these buses promises a much-needed relief for travelers enduring the intense summer heat.
Currently, 24 AC buses operate from Aligarh on routes to Noida, Lucknow (via Agra), Gorakhpur, and Dehradun. However, direct AC bus services from Aligarh to Lucknow and Moradabad have been unavailable, forcing passengers to take longer or less comfortable routes. For instance, AC buses traveling to Lucknow currently go via Agra in the evening, adding to travel time. Similarly, there are no AC bus services to Jaipur and Ballabhgarh, despite good passenger demand on these routes.
Request for 12 New AC Buses Submitted to Directorate
Proposed buses will have 44-seat capacity, aiming to provide comfortable travel and ease congestion
The Aligarh Transport Corporation has formally submitted a demand to the Directorate for 12 new AC buses, each with a 44-seat capacity. These buses are expected to be deployed soon, with route planning underway. Operations will be based out of the Sutamil depot.
The planned routes include direct connections from Aligarh to Moradabad via Bahjoi and Sambhal, as well as from Aligarh to Lucknow via Etah, Kannauj, and Kanpur. Additionally, AC bus services to Ballabhgarh and Jaipur are also being considered, catering to the substantial passenger traffic on these routes.

Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Regional Manager, stated that detailed planning is ongoing to finalize routes once the buses arrive. RM Satyendra Kumar Verma added that the initiative will significantly ease the burden of traveling in harsh heat and improve overall passenger convenience.
With the summer season in full swing and temperatures soaring, these new AC buses will provide much-needed comfort and help reduce the strain of travel for thousands of daily commuters and long-distance travelers.
