Delhi Braces for Thunderstorm and Rain on Sunday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a thunderstorm accompanied by rain in Delhi this Sunday. The maximum temperature is expected to soar to around 43 degrees Celsius.

Heat Wave and Gusty Winds Expected

Sunday’s weather forecast includes mostly cloudy skies, a heat wave, and either a dust storm or a thunderstorm with minimal rain and gusty winds. Delhi could experience gusts reaching speeds of 30-40 Km/h.

Minimum Temperature Above Seasonal Average

On Saturday, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 30.4 degrees Celsius, which is 4.2 degrees above the seasonal average, according to the weather department.

Thunderstorm Alert for Delhi and Surrounding Areas

The Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) in New Delhi issued a post on ‘X’ predicting thunderstorms with moderate rainfall and gusty winds over various parts of Delhi and NCR, including areas like Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad, and parts of neighboring states.

Air Quality Index at Moderate Level

Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 184 in the moderate category at 9 am, as reported by the Central Pollution Control Board. The humidity level stood at 27 percent at 8.30 am. For context, an AQI between 101 and 200 is considered moderate.

Rainfall Alert in Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema

The IMD has also issued an alert for heavy rainfall in isolated places over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP), Rayalaseema, and Yanam starting from June 1 for five days. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected in these areas.

Mixed Weather Conditions Ahead

Hot, humid, and uncomfortable weather is anticipated over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh on June 1, 2, and 4. Meanwhile, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over NCAP, Yanam, SCAP, and Rayalaseema on June 3 and 5.
