The Delhi Traffic Police have released an advisory notifying the public of significant traffic regulations set to be enforced on March 26th. This action comes in response to the planned protest by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Key roads including Tughlak Road, Safdarjung Road, and Kamal Ataturk Marg will be under strict surveillance, prohibiting any stops or parking to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Key Points from the Traffic Advisory:
- No Stoppage or Parking: Vehicles are not allowed to stop or park on Tughlak Road, Safdarjung Road, and Kamal Ataturk Marg.
- Traffic Diversion: Traffic will be diverted at several crucial junctions such as Aurobindo Chowk, Samrat Hotel Roundabout, and Teen Murti Haifa Roundabout, among others.
- Public Caution: The public is advised to avoid routes like Kamal Ataturk Marg, Safdarjung Road, Akbar Road, and Teen Murti Marg to prevent inconvenience.
Background of the Protest:
AAP has announced a demonstration to encircle the Prime Minister’s residence on Lok Kalyan Marg, marking their protest against the ED’s actions towards Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
This follows the ED’s arrest of Kejriwal in connection with a money laundering case related to the excise policy.
AAP’s Reaction and Public Sentiment:
Gopal Rai, AAP’s Delhi coordinator, voiced the party’s discontent, noting the barring of AAP’s legislators and councilors from meeting the Chief Minister’s family. He highlighted the national distress and anger provoked by Kejriwal’s arrest.
At a press conference, Rai, along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, announced that a joint movement would soon be initiated against the arrest, following discussions with the I.N.D.I.A bloc constituents.
