The Crime and the Preparation
The accused of committing Delhi’s biggest theft in Umrao Singh Jewelers located in Bhogal, Delhi had prepared a map of the jewelry showroom around it through Google Map. After preparing the map, the accused had also collected all the information related to Umrao Jewelers with the help of YouTube.
The Accused’s Statement
The accused told during police interrogation that they had rented a room in Bilaspur to hide the stolen goods, about which only Shiva, apart from Lokesh, was aware. It was from this room that the police arrested Lokesh with stolen goods. Accused Lokesh told that through Google Map he had collected information about the buildings built near Umrao Jewellers.
After this, he prepared a map and made a path to reach the roof. After reaching the terrace, he entered the showroom with the help of the map inside the showroom during Reiki. The accused told that he had learned to make maps from YouTube.
The Arrest and Recovery
The police waited for six hours: The police waited for six hours in a deserted area of Bilaspur to arrest the accused Lokesh. Actually, the police had arrested Shiva first. Shiva told during interrogation that Lokesh had taken a room on rent to hide the stolen goods. When the police reached that room with Shiva, they found that Lokesh had left from there.
In such a situation, seeing that the room was locked, the police decided to wait outside the room. The police team kept waiting for Lokesh for six hours. When Lokesh came after dark, the police caught him. After opening the room, the police also found stolen goods.
Legal Proceedings
The police officer said that Bilaspur police will present Lokesh and his companion in court on Tuesday. Where Delhi Police will file a petition in the court for the custody of the accused. Probably on Tuesday, the police will take Lokesh into custody and come to Delhi. After which Delhi Police will interrogate Lokesh about the entire incident.
