Upcoming Changes to Credit Card Rules

If you own a credit card, it’s important to be aware that significant changes are on the horizon. Starting December 1, 2024, Yes Bank will implement new rules that will affect how you can use your credit card benefits. These adjustments specifically target the redemption of reward points and the terms for accessing airport lounges. It’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with these changes so you can make the most of your credit card going forward.

New Limits on Reward Points Redemption

One of the notable changes involves the redemption of reward points for flights and hotels. From December 1, cardholders will see a limitation on the number of Yes Rewards points they can use. You’ll now be able to redeem points for a maximum of 70 percent of your total bill, or up to a specific monthly limit, whichever is lower. This means that if you were accustomed to using a higher percentage of your points for travel expenses, you’ll need to adjust your budgeting and spending accordingly.

Changes in Lounge Access Requirements

In addition to the new rules around reward points, Yes Bank will also be revising the requirements for complimentary airport lounge access starting April 1, 2025. To enjoy lounge access, cardholders will need to meet certain spending thresholds in the previous quarter. For example, to gain access to six lounges under the Yes Marquee card, you’ll need to spend Rs 1 lakh. Lesser cards will have different requirements, such as Rs 50,000 for one or two visits depending on the card type. It’s essential to plan your spending if you want to continue enjoying these perks at the airport.
