Exciting News on Auto Sales. ππ
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has released a new report showing good news for auto sales in India. The wholesale sales of passenger vehicles have hit a record high, crossing 43 lakh units for the fiscal year 2024-25. This is a great jump from 42.18 lakh units in the previous year.
Utility Vehicles Lead the Way. π
In this record-breaking year, utility vehicles made up a whopping 65% of total passenger vehicle sales. This is up from 60% in the fiscal year 2023-24. Sales of utility vehicles rose by 11%, reaching nearly 28 lakh units. This growth shows that more people are choosing SUVs and other utility vehicles for their travels.
Passenger Car Sales Take a Hit πβ¬οΈ
However, not all segments are doing well. The sales of passenger cars dropped by 13%, falling from over 15 lakh units last year to just over 13 lakh units this year. Despite this decline, the overall passenger vehicle segment still saw its highest sales ever, with 7.7 lakh units sold.
Two-Wheelers and Three-Wheelers on the Rise. ποΈπ΅
The two-wheeler market also saw an increase, with sales rising by 9% to over 1.96 crore units. This growth is attributed to improved demand in rural areas. Meanwhile, three-wheeler sales grew by 7%, reaching 7.41 lakh units.
Commercial Vehicles Face Challenges ππ
On the other hand, the wholesale sales of commercial vehicles dipped slightly by 1%. Despite these mixed results, the overall auto sales scene looks promising in India.
