Approval Granted For Rithala-Kundli-Nathupur Metro Corridor To Enhance Connectivity In Delhi Ncr Region.

Approval of the Rithala-Kundli-Nathupur Metro Corridor

The Central Government has given the green light for the Rithala-Kundli-Nathupur Metro Corridor, which was approved during a meeting of the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This significant project will link Rithala in Delhi to Nathupur in Kundli, Haryana, stretching over 26.463 kilometers. The estimated cost for constructing this corridor is about Rs 6230 crore, and it is expected to be completed within four years. This development will enhance connectivity and transportation options for residents in the Delhi NCR region, making it easier for people to travel across these areas.

Direct Metro Services and Enhanced Connectivity

One of the key benefits of this new corridor is the introduction of direct metro services to Kundli and Nathupur, offering considerable relief to commuters in the NCR. As an extension of the existing Red Line, which runs from Rithala to New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad, this new corridor will enable a direct metro link from Ghaziabad Shaheed Sthal to Kundli-Nathupur. This will mark the Red Line as the first corridor of the Delhi Metro to connect three states—Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh—through its metro network. The corridor will be fully elevated and feature 21 metro stations, which will further ease the flow of traffic and improve transportation options for the surrounding areas.

Expansion of the Metro Network in Delhi NCR

With the approval of the Rithala-Kundli line, the Phase Four project is set to include six metro corridors, totaling 112.426 kilometers and 84 stations. Currently, the metro network in the NCR spans 392 kilometers with 288 stations, serving around 64 lakh passengers daily. In fact, a record 78.67 lakh journeys were recorded just last month. As part of the ongoing development, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is also working on other corridors, with significant progress already made on three additional corridors. Once Phase Four is complete, the total metro network in the NCR will expand to approximately 504 kilometers, greatly enhancing public transportation in the region.
