Arunachal Pradesh Government partners with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Religare Group to improve healthcare services

Signalling its commitment to improve the state’s healthcare services and address the skills gap in the healthcare sector, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh (GoAP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Religare Group’s CSR arm, ReligareCare Foundation (RCF) in Itanagar.

Strengthening healthcare systems and infrastructure

Under the MoU, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Religare Care Foundation (RCF) will offer technical assistance to GoAP to strengthen the hill state’s tertiary healthcare systems and infrastructure. The initial project for collaboration will establish a Centre of Excellence for Renal Sciences at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS).

A commitment to affordable and accessible healthcare

The Honourable Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Pema Khandu, expressed his happiness at the association and stated that the MoU is a step forward in fulfilling the vision of providing affordable, accessible, and equitable healthcare services to the people of Arunachal Pradesh. The partnership aims to bring tertiary healthcare services closer to home, reducing costs and psychological trauma for families seeking medical care.

Enhancing healthcare facilities and professional development

Shri Alo Libang, Minister of Health, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, congratulated Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Religare Group on the association. The partnership will assist in establishing a state-of-the-art healthcare facility dedicated to renal sciences and related research. It aims to ensure that patients requiring dialysis or kidney transplants receive the same level of care as those in other parts of the country. Healthcare professionals in the state will also receive appropriate training to enhance their skills and bring them in line with their counterparts in leading states with superior healthcare facilities.

Arunachal Pradesh’s progress in healthcare

The state government has been working towards improving healthcare services and addressing the skills gap in the healthcare sector. In the last five years, the state has seen a significant reduction in the skills gap, from 34% to 6%. Arunachal Pradesh boasts a workforce of over 8,000 healthcare professionals, including doctors, paramedics, pharmacists, and nurses. Various central government schemes, such as Ayushman Bharat and the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), have further enhanced healthcare services in the state.

Dr Rashmi Saluja, Executive Chairperson of Religare Enterprises Ltd, expressed gratitude for the partnership with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. She believes that the collaboration will greatly enhance the state’s healthcare infrastructure and contribute to the professional development of healthcare practitioners.
