Stranded in Russia: Air India Passengers face Linguistic, Living and Eating Problems

Air India passengers who were stranded in Russia due to engine trouble are facing huge problems. The passengers are struggling with the language barrier, as well as living and eating arrangements. Tata Group-owned Air India flight AI173 was en route from Delhi to San Francisco but was forced to land in Magadan after engine trouble.

Passengers stuck in Russia told NDTV that they are facing the biggest language problem. After the emergency landing in Russia, passengers were sent to different places where they are facing problems with living, eating, and toilet facilities. One passenger explained that the food here is very different, with more seafood and non-veg options. Some are passing the time by eating bread and soup, while others are running out of medicines. Although the passengers faced a lot of trouble on the first day, the Russian authorities helped them later.

Air India Aircraft Flies to Russia to Help Passengers

To rescue 216 stranded passengers in Russia and take them to their destination San Francisco in the US, Air India sent an aircraft from Mumbai to Magadan at 3.20 pm on Wednesday afternoon. The airline announced that the plane will fly to San Francisco on June 8 with passengers and crew members stranded in Magadan.

Food and Essential Items Sent Along with the Aircraft

Air India also sent food and other essential items for the passengers and crew members stranded in Russia. The airline stated that “One of our flights has already departed from Mumbai to Magadan and is expected to reach Russia on June 8 at 6.30 am local time.” A team of the airline is also on board to provide necessary assistance to the passengers and staff present in Magadan.
