The proposed metro line from Noida to Greater Noida West’s Knowledge Park-5 will now feature 11 stations, an increase from the initially proposed nine. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has prepared and submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), which is currently under review. Approval for the DPR is expected soon in an upcoming board meeting.

Background:

Currently, the NMRC operates the Aqua Line metro from Sector-51 to the Greater Noida Depot. Plans have been in motion for the past five to six years to extend this line to Greater Noida West.

The initial DPR envisioned the metro line starting from Sector-51 and proceeding through Sector-72 Baba Balak Nath Temple along the 130-meter road to Greater Noida.

However, a direct connectivity issue between the Blue Line’s Sector-52 station and Sector-51 metro station prompted the revision of the route.

New Route and Features:

Under the new directives from NMRC and Noida Authority, DMRC has developed a DPR for a modified route. Instead of heading towards Sector-72 Baba Balak Nath Temple, the metro will now direct towards Sector-61 and connect with the Blue Line’s Sector-61 station via a platform link.

This metro line will traverse Phase Three Kotwali, Sector-71 Kailash Hospital, and exit near Sector-121 Cleo County, eventually joining the old route near Parthala Signature Bridge. The revised route is 2.5 kilometers longer than the original plan, extending from 14.958 kilometers to 17.435 kilometers. This adjustment has increased the project cost by approximately ₹794 crores, totaling ₹2991 crores.

Unified Operation Plan:

Initially, the route was to be developed in two phases, with the first phase extending from Sector-51 to Sector-2 of Greater Noida West. The comprehensive development plan now encompasses the entire route, enabling simultaneous metro operation across the new extended path.

Proposed Stations:

  1. Sector-61 Station
  2. Another station (TBD)
  3. Sector-122
  4. Sector-123
  5. Sector-4 Greater Noida West
  6. Sector-12 Ecotech
  7. Sector-2 Greater Noida West
  8. Sector-3 Greater Noida West
  9. Sector-10 Greater Noida West
  10. Sector-12 Greater Noida West
  11. Knowledge Park-5 Greater Noida

Dr. Lokesh M, Managing Director of NMRC, confirmed the receipt of the DPR for the metro line from Noida to Greater Noida West and mentioned that it is currently under review before being presented for approval at the board meeting. This expansion aims to enhance connectivity and ease transportation for residents and commuters between these regions
