The government has taken significant action against SIM card users of Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, and BSNL. Around 1.7 crore SIM cards issued with fake Aadhaar cards and other documents have been deactivated.
The government is shutting down SIM cards issued with fraudulent documents to curb spam calls. It’s essential for users to ensure that their SIM cards are not issued under someone else’s documents, as this can lead to the deactivation of their SIM cards.
AI Used to Block SIMs
With the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI), 1.77 crore mobile connections issued using fake documents have been blocked. Additionally, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), along with four telecom operators, has prevented 45 lakh fake international calls from reaching the telecom network.
11 Lakh Accounts Frozen
The Ministry of Communications also mentioned that around 11 lakh bank and payment wallet accounts have been frozen. In the coming days, more SIM cards will likely be blocked as part of the ongoing effort to control fraud and spam.
